I’m glad you’re here.
The hardest step is the one you’re making right now—reaching out for help. I invite you to spend a few minutes looking around. I’ll be here when you’re ready.
Why cattail?
Cattails live in the space between water and land. My life, and so many of our lives, mirror that in-betweenness all at once. We experience joy and sorrow, peace and conflict, calm and worry, stability and unpredictability. And we feel all of those things in our nervous systems.
Read on to learn more about what cattails represent and how we might try to embrace these characteristics in our shared space.
Flexibility and Adaptability:
Cattails often grow in wetlands and marshy areas, thriving in environments where other plants may struggle. As such, they symbolize adaptability and the ability to flourish in challenging conditions. Our work together might encourage you to see the grey areas and I will be reflecting back to you the many strengths I see you possess.
Renewal and Regeneration:
Cattails are prolific growers, spreading rapidly through an underground root system. They symbolize renewal, regeneration, and the cyclical nature of life. We’ll be working together to spread our root systems by engaging our full selves to learn new things.
Clarity and Cleansing:
Cattails are often associated with cleansing due to their ability to absorb pollutants and improve water quality in wetland ecosystems. In some cultures, they are seen as symbols of purification and spiritual cleansing. In our space together, we’ll embrace our messy and complicated lives and we’ll work hard to name what you’re experiencing so that a clearer path might appear.
Community and Cooperation:
Cattails often grow in dense clusters, creating habitats that support diverse wildlife communities. They symbolize the interconnectedness of all living beings and the importance of cooperation and community. Feeling a sense of belonging and unity is part of what we’ll create together. And we’ll explore the many ways places, people, events, and so much more impact your experience of the world.
Protection and Shelter:
Cattails provide shelter and nesting sites for various animals, including birds, insects, and amphibians. They symbolize protection, safety, and nurturing care. I am a steady, safe presence and we’ll work together to create a safe space for you to discover what is already inside you.
